The Aerotight self-locking nut is extremely popular with a number of customers from around the world. So much so that keeping production at pace to meet demand has been difficult to date.
The company is constantly looking to modernise and increase production capacity at Aerotight to meet increasing volume demands. Apex has invested this year in two new automated CNC machine at its Leicester production facility.
Thew new CNC machines will be real gamechanger in terms of the effect delivered on production output. It is also going to enable overnight production that is unmanned.
The Citizen Series 3 A20-VII Axis Sliding Head Turning Centre Machine comes complete with a Lemca Boss 338-32 automatic bar loader, swarf conveyor and Wogard Oil Recovery Unit.
This new investment enables a streamlining of the production process, eliminating the previous number of separate operations required. Benefits include increased capacity and less machine down time. It also means a reduction in the amount of production errors. Plus it frees up operators to focus on other activities in the factory floor.
Encouraged by these improvements and the machine performance another similar CNC machine has been ordered for delivery in April 2019 and will go live in early 2020.
